Since AEW’s inception a couple of years ago, the company has hired former WWE superstars on a consistent basis. This is a move that was heavily criticized by fans. In fact, some of the top guys within the company are ex-WWE guys. Jon Moxley, Bryan Danielson, FTR, Chris Jericho, and Claudio Castagnoli all joined AEW from the WWE. It now looks like AEW has hired another ex-WWE guy.

According to PW Insider, AEW has reportedly hired Michael Mansbury, who was the Vice President of Global Television Production for WWE. It is also being reported that Michael will start his duties this week.

“We are told he was backstage at the Full Gear PPV a few weeks back as well, but he is now officially with the company. Mansury’s official title is Senior Vice President & Co-Executive Producer for AEW. This is a big backstage hire for the company,” according to Mike Johnson of PWInsider.

Michael Mansbury worked with WWE from 2009 to 2020. Many within the company hailed Mansbury as the next Kevin Dunn and were shocked regarding his departure. Considering Tony Khan’s recent track record in hiring ex-WWE talent, only time will tell how long Mansbury will last in AEW. Stay tuned to Ringside News for more such stories.
