The Rock and Roman Reigns seem destined to face each other at WrestleMania 39, but The Great One hasn’t even returned to WWE yet. We exclusively reported that the two sides are still discussing a Royal Rumble appearance, but they have a lot of options.

Ringside News reached out to confirm The Rock’s current Royal Rumble status. WWE and Dwayne Johnson’s camp are still batting around the possibilities. The Royal Rumble will be a big event in the Alamodome on January 28th, but that isn’t the only time The Rock could return.

We were told by a tenured member of the team that “there are ideas for Rock in Rumble, ideas for Rock not in Rumble, ideas for Rock to show up elsewhere besides the Rumble.” Right now, “nothing is etched in stone until a deal is reached.”

There are a lot of stories going around about WWE’s plans, but at this time any confirmation of The Rock’s Royal Rumble appearance is “fake news.” That is not to say that The Rock’s Royal Rumble appearance is impossible.

It will be very interesting to see how this situation plays out on WWE television. The Rock has an incredibly busy schedule, so any appearance for Vince McMahon’s former company will take a lot of coordinating with his outrageously full plate.

What’s your take on this situation with The Rock? Sound off in the comments!

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
