William Regal was betrayed by MJF in a shocking angle on the November 30, 2022 episode of AEW Dynamite. It was later revealed that Regal was done with the Jacksonville-based promotion, and would soon return to WWE.

Reports of William Regal’s AEW exit took the pro wrestling world by surprise. Claudio Castagnoli, who was mentored by Regal as part of their Blackpool Combat Club storyline, reacted to the reports as well.

The former Ring of Honor World Champion commented on Regal’s departure from AEW while speaking with Joey Hayden of Dallas Morning News. Check out his comments here:

“I mean, I guess we have to … we have to wait and see. You know, we’re still talking, I think we have to have a little group meeting to figure out what’s next, or if there’s a next. So yeah, I’ll leave it at that.”

AEW star Brian Pillman Jr. set the record straight on rumors about AEW stars not listening to William Regal’s advice as well. The Englishman is expected to join WWE in backstage role after New Year.
