Athena Didn’t Even Change Into Her Ring Gear For Recent AEW Dark Elevation Match

Athena was one of the highlights of WWE NXT’s women’s division. While she found success in NXT, things simply didn’t turn out as well for her on the WWE main roster. She went to AEW and hasn’t found all that much success either. She is currently going through transition in character and didn’t even wear ring gear for a recent match.

As seen on the latest episode of AEW Dark: Elevation, Athena squared off against Laynie Luck in a singles match. Interestingly enough, she did not wear her regular ring gear. That contest was her first match back after a suspension she received for striking Aubrey Edwards.

Athena took to her Instagram account and uploaded a clip of her making her entrance for the aforementioned match. Athena revealed that she didn’t even wear any ring gear for the match.

Athena has not been seen in the best of light as of late. This all started after she faced off against Jody Threat on the October 12, 2022, edition of Dark Elevation. Athena was extremely aggressive during the match and landed some stiff shots, which drew the ire of many. This also marked the start of a huge shift in her character.

Athena won her recent AEW Dark Elevation match in brutal fashion, as it was a glorified squash match. Athena is clearly a heel, and fans are slowly getting invested in her new character. We’ll have to see how her character keeps on developing in the coming weeks.
