Vince McMahon, the former chairman of WWE, was known to be quite strict with how he ran the company. However, there were some areas where he was quite lax. It seems a former WWE superstar used this to his advantage.

2-time Intercontinental Champion Santino Marella recently joined The A2theK Wrestling Show for an interview where he discussed life before and after WWE. During the interview, he opened up about McMahon’s stance on wrestlers unintentionally laughing on WWE television during his time with the company.

“There’s nothing funnier than watching someone crack on TV. Vince [McMahon] kind of said to the locker room at the time, ‘If you laugh, it’s funny, it’s not the end of the world. But you have to laugh in the way that it’s not like you’re breaking character, but the character can laugh. There’s always a way to protect it and kind of cover it up, so to speak. I definitely made it a goal of mine to try and crack people.”

Santino Marella was famous for his stereotypical Italian gimmick during his time in WWE. Marella made his debut in a 2005 episode of RAW, where he defeated Umaga for the Intercontinental Championship.

Santino Marella’s last match for WWE took place in 2014. Although he made sporadic appearances in the company thereafter, his pro-wrestling days seem to be behind him now. Currently, Marella has kept himself busy running the Battle Arts Academy, where he is the owner and a pro wrestling coach.
