Trish Stratus is one of the most well-regarded WWE superstars of all time. She was considered as the pioneer to pave the way for the women today. Her contemporary and fellow WWE Hall of Famer, Lita, has now detailed that a past incident that almost broke Trish’s neck once.

Lita was one of the most gifted high-flying athletes during her hey days until 2006 when she retired from the squared circle. The 4-time Women’s champion, alongside Trish Stratus changed the game for women of future generation. They made history by becoming the first women to main event Monday Night RAW in 2004.

During her early days in the WWE, Trish Stratus was the manager of Test and Albert, commonly known as T&A. It was during one of their matches against The Hardy Boyz in 2000, the 7-time Women’s champion was involved in a disastrous incident after Lita botched a leg drop and landed straight on Trish Stratus’s face. She detailed about this in her book “Lita: A Less Traveled R.O.A.D.–The Reality of Amy Dumas.”

“Michael Hayes—our agent for the match —told me that they wanted me to do something to Trish. Since things were running late, there wasn’t time for us to practice doing a moonsault on her, so Michael suggested, ‘How about a leg drop?’ I’d never done a leg drop before, but I’d seen Matt do it a thousand times. As usual, I thought, Why not? I can do that. The Hardyz and T&A had the match, I did my run in and as I stood on the second rope to drop the leg on Trish, I realized, ‘I don’t know how to do this.”

Lita also stated that she did not know how to perform the move. She felt it was too late to turn back and decided to go ahead with the move. However, Lita botched the move badly.

“I jumped off and WHAM! landed my a** right onto Trish’s face. Oh shit! (…) Fortunately, my a** hitting her in the face didn’t do any damage—I didn’t break her nose or even bruise her up. It could’ve been a lot worse. Trish was totally cool about it— she understood that she was the new girl and that she had a bunch of dings and knocks coming to her,”

Trish Stratus was billed the ‘Diva of the Decade’ for her contributions to the WWE. She wrestled her retirement match against Lita in 2006 to capture her seventh WWE Women’s championship. She has however returned to in-ring action numerous times since her retirement.
