MJF worked hard to become one of the defining heels of this generation. For many fans, he is truly a generational talent. MJF became huge star in AEW very quickly and has far exceeded expectations. His promo skills are second to none, but ironically enough, he doesn’t like the word ‘promo’ for an interesting reason.

The Salt Of The Earth has fans eating out of his hands whenever he wants to because of his exceptional skills on the microphone. In fact, MJF can get heat at the drop of a hat.

While speaking with Vulture, MJF talked about one of his more infamous promos from this year. MJF then went on to explain why he hates the word ‘promo’ in general.

“I think sometimes people just have sympathy for the devil. Every time, as a talent, you walk through the curtain, your only goal should be to steal the show. Your only goal should be to be the No. 1 thing people are talking about. There have been times in my career where I have taken it as a legitimate personal slight when people look at our show and the first thing they don’t mention is me. It is your job as a performer to make everyone who’s worried about the bullsh*t focus on you and only you.

By the way, I hate that word ‘promo.’ I prefer ‘oratory exhibition.’ The amount of classic oratory exhibitions that I have, I take great pride in that.”

Maxwell Jacob Friedman doesn’t prepare his “‘”oratory exhibitions” ahead of time. Instead, he prefers to “[shoot] from the hip,” for a more authentic feeling.”

MJF is set to challenge Jon Moxley for the AEW World Title at AEW Full Gear on November 19th. It remains to be seen whether The Devil will end up dethroning Moxley for the title or not.
