Jungle Boy gained a loyal fanbase because of his incredible athleticism and babyface gimmick. The real-life Jack Perry was also referred to as one of the four pillars of AEW by MJF.

Jungle Boy is currently in a heated feud with his former mentor Christian Cage. Captain Charisma turned heel on Jungle Boy following Jurassic Express’ loss to The Young Bucks for the AEW World Tag Team Championship at Road Rager.

The feud turned extremely personal after Christian Cage brought up Jungle Boy’s family including his late father, Luke Perry, on national television. Amid the ongoing feud, Jungle Boy replaced his ring name with his real name, Jack Perry.

During a recent interview with ComicBook.com, the 25-year-old revealed he took up his real name because of the extremely-personal nature of the feud with his former mentor.

“I initially went with the whole Jungle Boy thing as a way to not be myself or more what I guess people thought I was. It was my way of really getting people to just watch my wrestling, which was really important to me. I wanted people to just watch me do what I did in the ring. I didn’t want to have to talk or have a character that other people were trying to push on me. It was like, I’m Jungle Boy. I don’t talk, I don’t do anything. You just got to watch what’s in the ring. A lot of that was to avoid my personal life in a way.

“Christian goes and just blows all that out of the water and is going nuts every week, saying all this stuff. At that point it’s kind of like, what am I waiting for now? This seems like the time to go for it.”

Jack Perry will square off against former best friend Luchasaurus inside a steel cage at AEW Full Gear 2022 tomorrow night. It remains to be seen who will prevail after the brutal matchup.
