Bret Hart is a WWE Hall of Famer and one of the most technically sound pro wrestlers to have ever competed in the ring. However, he is not without his fair share of controversies, largely due to his whiny nature after The Montreal Screwjob. In fact, he made a very interesting claim about punching Vince McMahon following the incident.

Bret was also the centerpiece of The Montreal Screwjob and held animosity towards everyone involved for decades. The unfortunate event took place at Survivor Series 1997, where the theme was Gang Rulez, and that led to a lot of bad blood between Vince McMahon and Bret Hart.

In fact, Bret Hart was so irked that he ended up punching Vince McMahon in the face and gave him a black eye. All of that happened in the locker room after the screwjob went down. While speaking to The Ringer, Bret Hart claimed that punching Vince McMahon was the greatest thing he ever did.

“It was probably the greatest thing I ever did, in the sense that I stood up for myself like no other wrestler ever stood up for themselves.

Things are clearly better between the two now, as Bret Hart eventually made his way back to WWE. The incident will forever be etched in the mind of pro wrestlers in general, and that’s unlikely to ever change.
