WWE has a lot of moving pieces, and there is always concern when a fan-favorite gets their main roster call-up from NXT. WALTER became GUNTHER on the main roster after he emerged from the developmental brand, and now we must clear up a story going around about the former NXT UK Champion.

A report came out from WrestleVotes that said Vince McMahon didn’t have a high opinion of GUNTHER. It was alleged that Vince McMahon planned to bury GUNTHER and send him back to NXT.

Following his appearance on RAW on 7/4, those in power at the time really soured on Gunther for whatever ridiculous reason. To the point where a burial on TV was coming. Just a month later and quite the difference…

WrestleVotes later doubled-down on their previous report while speaking to GiveMeSport as they said, “I know that Vince McMahon just didn’t like what he saw on Raw and was over him, like legitimately wanted to bury him, go back to NXT, that type of stuff.”

Ringside News reached out to confirm this story, and we were told that the “Gunther report on WrestleVotes is typical fake news.” Moreover, we were told that “Vince liked Gunther.”

The former WALTER is a “Triple H guy.” That being said, “Vince saw a lot of potential in him.” That being said, any report that claims Vince McMahon wasn’t high on GUNTHER is “fabrication.”

Also, Sean Sapp reported months ago that Vince McMcahon and company were impressed by GUNTHER. “Those that we spoke to within WWE said that Walter getting in shape and being willing to move to the United States after not seeming interested in the latter was a good sign for him.” It was also noted that “from the time he was brought over to the United States, it was always planned and implied that he’d move to the main roster.”

GUNTHER is still the Intercontinental Champion and going strong. The winner of WWE’s World Cup Tournament will get a shot at him next. Obviously, GUNTHER is in good hands with Triple H in control, but Vince McMahon also saw a lot of good things for the big man’s future in WWE.

What’s your take on GUNTHER’s booking in WWE? Sound off in the comments!
