Saraya was left with no choice but to retire from in-ring competition in 2017 and it truly changed her life in a huge way. The former Paige spent the next few years in WWE in a variety of roles, but it didn’t last together. Saraya ultimately went to AEW and chose AEW for a good reason.

The first-ever NXT Women’s Champion left the company back in July and then made her All Elite Wrestling debut during ‘Dynamite: Grand Slam. She immediately began a feud with Britt Baker after that.

While speaking with Renee Paquette on The Sessions, Saraya talked about her time working in WWE and how it is working in AEW now. Saraya explained why she chose AEW over WWE as well.

“The thing that swayed me was AEW is a new, fresh company, like I could probably benefit from being thrown into a new mix. Tony [Khan] just offered me so much freedom. WWE, we didn’t even get into money. At that point, it was just, ‘Maybe we can do this.’ It wasn’t a definitive ‘this is the offer.'”

Saraya is set to square off against Britt Baker at AEW Full Gear on November 19th. We will have to wait and see whether she will end up winning her in-ring debut match or not.
