Kevin Owens has been one of the most consistent in-ring performers in WWE since his debut. Whether he plays the role of a babyface or a heel, he knows how to work the crowd and get himself over with the fans. Throughout his WWE tenure, Kevin Owens has faced almost everyone on the roster. However, he hasn’t faced the one superstar he really wants to get in the ring with.
During a recent appearance on The Happy Hour, Kevin Owens mentioned that he has never had a singles match against Rey Mysterio. He further stated that he can’t imagine anybody else that he’d love to face other than Rey Mysterio.
“We’ve had a multi-man match here and there. We’ve teamed together, but we never had a singles match, I really can’t imagine anybody right now that I’d love to wrestle other than Rey.”
While it looked like Kevin Owens might finally get the push he deserved, he has been off television in recent weeks. In fact, his last televised match was on the September 30th edition of SmackDown where he teamed with Johnny Gargano and Drew McIntyre to defeat Austin Theory and Alpha Academy. Ringside News exclusively reported that Owens’ current hiatus from television has nothing to do with Sami Zayn.
It will be interesting to see whether Kevin Owens will be pushed into the main event scene after returning to WWE television. If anything, he has a legion of fans pulling to see him succeed. They also wouldn’t mind seeing a match with Owens versus Rey Mysterio either.
