AEW’s growth is well-documented, as fans would agree the company has improved in several ways. In fact, it has come to such a point that even former detractors have become fans of the product. Mick Foley also put over AEW recently.

AEW President Tony Khan is very passionate about pro wrestling and that is without question. However, Khan has the tendency of saying very odd things from time to time.

For many fans, AEW has become proper competition to WWE, even if AEW is nowhere near as big a company. While speaking on his Foley is Pod podcast, WWE Hall Of Famer Mick Foley stated that he believes that those in WWE are fooling themselves if they don’t consider AEW as competition.

“When people say ‘are you your WWE loyalist?’ I said, first and foremost, I’m for the boys. And when I say boys, I mean collectively, the men and the women I want what’s best for the talent and ultimately, I do believe that what’s best for the talent is best for the company. So, I love WWE, but I love the fact that there’s a strong competition. If they’re claiming it’s not competition, they’re fooling themselves.”

Tony Khan will continue to believe that AEW will be proper competition to WWE and perhaps he will be right one day. However, that day is still far from happening right now.
