Shane McMahon returned to WWE television after a long hiatus during this year’s edition of the Men’s Royal Rumble match. His performance in the match was not necessarily anything to write home about.

Shane McMahon had a substantial amount of heat on himself for taking over the men’s Royal Rumble match booking as McMahon simply went into business for himself.

Ringside News exclusively reported at the time that Shane McMahon was nixed from the Elimination Chamber and WrestleMania. It is important to note that he was never “fired,” because Shane was never an employee of the company. After that, creative plans for Shane McMahon changed due to all that heat.

Vince McMahon ultimately had no choice but to fire his son in the end. McMahon was frustrated over Vince shooting down his Royal Rumble changes. Shane has not been seen since then.

While speaking in a special Ask Kurt Anything Q&A session, WWE Hall Of Famer Kurt Angle revealed that he still keeps in touch with Shane McMahon.

“You know what? We talked to each other about two months ago on the phone. I did talk to him. He reached out to me and asked me how I was doing. Shane, out of the blue, he always keeps in touch with his closest friends. Undertaker, me, Stone Cold, and even Dwayne Johnson when he can, but Shane always reaches out. He always wants to keep in touch with everybody that he was close to.

With Vince McMahon no longer in the picture, we will have to wait and see whether Shane will return to the company or not.
