Intercontinental Title Match Announced For Taped WWE SmackDown Episode

GUNTHER had an amazing run in NXT UK as he became the longest-reigning champion in modern WWE by holding the NXT UK Title for a record 870 days. He dropped the title to Ilja Dragunov at NXT TakeOver 36. 

GUNTHER finally made his way to the US as part of the NXT roster as well. Gunther and Ludwig Kaiser made their main roster debut on Friday Night Smackdown earlier this year.

Rey Mysterio became the #1 contender for GUNTHER’s title last week on Smackdown. WWE has now announced Mysterio vs. GUNTHER for the November 4 SmackDown episode, which will be taped in advance and be the go-home episode before WWE Crown Jewel.

Last night’s SmackDown saw Mysterio defeat beat Kaiser, while GUNTHER and Giovanni Vinci watched from ringside until they were ejected. We will have to see how Mysterio will fare in the match.
