After a successful run in NXT, Sami Zayn finally made his main roster debut on the May 4, 2015, episode of Monday Night RAW. He answered John Cena’s ‘open challenge’ and challenged him for the United States Championship. However, he was unable to defeat John Cena for the title that night.

However, during his entrance, Sami Zayn injured himself which put him on the shelf immediately following his debut. Since then, Sami Zayn has redeemed himself and come a long way to become one of the top stars in the company. In a recent interview with WWE Deutschland, Sami Zayn mentioned what it was like to face John Cena.

“I kinda like don’t even know what I feel about it, to be honest. I mean, I think back on it because it was the only time I ever wrestled [John] Cena one-on-one. So that was a privilege, especially now that [John] Cena is not with us as often anymore, if at all. So, the fact that I got to mix it up with him and have that match which actually was a very good match, and the crowd was just amazing. That was of course very, very special.”

Although it was Sami Zayn’s first match on the main roster, he put on a good show that the crowd enjoyed. Currently, Sami Zayn is doing some really entertaining work as part of The Bloodline. It will be interesting to see if this will lead to a future Universal Title match against Roman Reigns.
