WWE and AEW are both operating in the same pro wrestling landscape, and there have been some issues with contract tampering in recent memory. It seems that one of those stories was fabricated.

The rumor is that Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland were approached about getting out of AEW contracts. Lee and Swerve were apparently not fans of how they were treated, and how Mia Yim was treated in WWE, so they declined the offer. It seems that isn’t the case.

Keith Lee tweeted out to clear up the situation. He also threw a bit of shade on some of the people who seems to be reporting, and believing, those stories.

I am fascinated that such a thing was stated/reported. No one knows my personal business in any capacity. And I certainly have not spoken with whoever those people are.

My advice…. would be to ignore outlets that merely use names to make up stories. Read a book instead.

We’ll have to see who exits AEW next. It seems that Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland are very happy in Tony Khan’s company. Only time will tell if they change their minds down the line.

What’s your take on this rumor about Keith Lee? Sound off in the comments!

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
