How WWE’s Damage CTRL Stable Got Their Name

Dakota Kai was one of the best things about NXT television because she consistently put on great matches during her time with the company. Despite all her success, the company ended up releasing Dakota Kai from her NXT contract back in May.

Fans wondered what was next in store for Kai after that. In the end, she made her return to WWE alongside Bayley and Iyo Sky at WWE SummerSlam. Since then, she has been part of the faction known as Damage CTRL.

While speaking on WWE’s The Bump, the faction was asked about the origins of their name. Dakota Kai spoke for the faction and explained how they came up with the name.

“From the very start, we were throwing around the word ‘control’. I think that’s something we wanted to establish within the division. Just because it seems like it had kind of gone off the rails for a bit. So, we had this common goal between the three of us that we wanted to take control, to control the division, to control whatever it was that we could get our hands on basically… We wanted to basically control it again. And I think Damage CTRL was just something that came to mind and we all agreed on it.

Dakota Kai and Iyo Sky will challenge Aliyah and Raquel Rodriguez for the Women’s Tag Team Championship on next week’s RAW. We will have to wait and see if they will be able to win the titles or not.
