Thunder Rosa is out of action due to an injury. She was scheduled to take on Toni Storm to defend her AEW Women’s Championship at AEW All Out. However, her injury forced her to relinquish her title on AEW Dynamite.

Rosa made the announcement with backstage segment. This made fans wonder why this was in contrast to CM Punk cutting an in-ring promo to announce his injury while being AEW World Champion.

The AEW superstar appeared on Busted Open Radio, where she gave a statement about her injury. She extensively talked about women’s wrestling and said that she has invested her own wealth to help others flourish. Equality is an important aspect of pro wrestling, and Rosa says that pro wrestling should set a fine precedent for equality.

I stand with women’s pro wrestling. I believe in diversity. I believe in equal pay. I believe in equality. That’s what I have fought for the last seven years. Not only for me, but for those who come after me. Those women who have called and texted me, that have said, ‘Thunder, I don’t have a space, there is no place for me. Nobody wants to give me a chance.’

I said, ‘Let me see what we can do.’ We talked to our sponsors because we’re not rich, we don’t make money out of the small shows. They are charity shows. We have sponsors from all over the country who are just as invested as we are in women’s pro wrestling and to make a difference in our community and pro wrestling. I think pro wrestling should lead the way in showing what equality looks like.

Thunder Rosa is down with an injury, which means it’s up to other stars to fight for the title. Toni Storm, Britt Baker, Jamie Hayter, and Hikaru Shida are scheduled for a four-way battle for the AEW Interim Women’s Championship. Rosa commented on the arrangement.

I’m very hopeful that the four-way fighting for the Interim Women’s Title is the best match on the card. I really do. When I come back healthy, I will take all my frustration on whoever is in my way for the unification of the title. I do feel I am the undisputed best female wrestler in the world. I deserve the championship reign to prove it.

Rosa’s injury is still fresh, and there is no information on how long is her recovery going to be. The star has already started taking physical therapy. Hopefully, she would come back into the ring as soon as she is medically cleared.
