Hikaru Shida is former AEW Women’s Champion, and any time she’s on television, her fans will pay attention. AEW helped multiple Independent companies showcase their championship gold to a bigger audience. They’re about to do it once again

Ring of Honor, AAA, and New Japan are some prominent names in this who have received attention on Tony Khan’s programming. They had their opportunity on the company’s various shows, “Dynamite”, “Rampage”, “Dark”, or “Dark: Elevation.” This week, another promotion adds its name to the list. It’s Pro Wrestling WAVE.

AEW announced today that Shida will defend her Regina Di WAVE Championship against her trainer and mentor, Emi Sakura. It’s the second time in a month that she will face Sakura, with the first one being on the August 4th special episode of Dark: Elevation. It is her first championship defense after she won it from Suzu Suzuki in Japan on August 14th. She previously held this title from August 2014 to February 2015.

Shida has a busy week ahead of her as she faces off against Dr Britt Baker, DMD and Jamie Hayter at AEW Dynamite this Wednesday with Toni Storm as her tag team partner. We’ll have to see how the former AEW Women’s Champion does on Dynamite.
