Kris Statlander announced on this past week’s AEW Road To special that she will miss six to eight months of in-ring action to fix a torn ACL. The AEW star revealed that she suffered the injury during a match against Sierra on AEW Dark: Elevation.

In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer confirmed the company had significant plans for Statlander prior to her injury. Those plans included a big match with current TBS Champion Jade Cargill.

Kris Statlander will undergo surgery on her left knee. She suffered both a torn ACL and torn meniscus. It looks like six to eight months out. Previously she had torn the ACL in her right knee and been out of action for months. We were told they had significant plans for her prior to the injury. They had been building for her and Jade Cargill at some point.

It was announced that Athena will challenge Cargill for the championship at All Out in September. Cargill will compete next on tonight’s AEW Rampage episode against Penelope Ford.
