WWE SummerSlam kicked off with the introduction of a new stable. It turns out that if it were up to Vince McMahon, fans would have never seen that happen.

According to Sean Sapp behind Fightful’s paywall, Vince McMahon had the idea of this new stable with Bayley leading Shirai and Kai before Dakota was released. However, he rejected the idea and then Kai was cut.

Obviously, things changed when Triple H came around, because Kai was brought back for the stable and Shirai seems to have inked that new WWE contract that she was reluctant in doing before.

If it wasn’t obvious, this new stable is a product of the new WWE regime. We’ve heard that the stable was actually pitched quite a while ago — before Dakota’s release — and Vince McMahon rejected it. There were other versions pitched that included Raquel and Kay Lee Ray before they got called up and repackaged, respectively.

Vince McMahon is no longer around, so it will be very interesting to see what else WWE introduces to fans that never made it past the pitching phase in his office. If anything, this new trio is a pretty good example of something excellent that he rejected.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
