Ric Flair will walk that aisle one final time on July 31 in Nashville, Tennessee. The much-hyped ‘Ric Flair’s Last Match’ event will see The Nature Boy team with son-in-law Andrade El Idolo to take on Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett. Many wrestling fans are cynical that Flair will be able to avoid the bright lights and cheers of the crowd once he’s felt them again.

There is plenty of reason to think Ric Flair might do another match after this. He famously lost to Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania XXIV in a retirement match. It wasn’t long after that he was once again in the ring with TNA.

Ric Flair spoke to Chris Van Vliet to promote his upcoming last hurrah. Flair addressed the concern that this would not truly be his final match. He insisted that this really is the last go-around.

“It has to be [my last match]. I get that question asked a lot, but it has to be. Even if I do well, I can’t go back on my word to the people that have given me all this respect, time and bought tickets.

I have been offered 10 matches at 50 grand a piece, and I think in Europe someone offered me 100 grand. But this will be the last one. I can manage somebody and be in the ring, but it will be my last match.”

This won’t be enough to convince some fans that Flair is going to hang up his boots. After all, he didn’t garner a reputation as ‘the dirtiest player in the game’ because of his honesty. For now, Ric truly seems sincere about it being his last match.
