Vince McMahon has been in the news since June for having secretly paid $3 million as settlement to a departing employee. This led to McMahon being under investigation, and Mr. McMahon eventually retired from his own company. Jericho also reacted to a potential AEW x WWE crossover after Vince McMahon’s retirement.

It was then discovered that McMahon also paid $12 million in hush money as well to multiple women over the past couple of decades. This was ultimately what led to McMahon’s downfall for many people.

Vince McMahon took to Twitter on Friday and announced his decision to retire from WWE. While speaking to Cinema Blend, Chris Jericho talked about Vince McMahon retiring from WWE. He also addressed a potential AEW x WWE crossover, making it clear that crazier things have happened.

“I think one of the best things that we’ve done as a company with AEW is obviously we know WWE exists, and obviously we know that they’re out there and they see us as 1,000% competition. But we don’t really worry about what’s going on in their world. We’re much more concerned with our own shows, sharing the best shows we can, and improving everything we can, telling the best stories we can. So to me, they’re kind of a ship on their own, and we are much more diligent about AEW generally. I mean, like I said, I care, but not really worry. So is it going to affect us anyway? We’ll see… I don’t know if there will ever be, you know, a WWE vs AEW crossover pay per view. But stranger things have happened. So, we’ll see.”

Time will tell just how far-reaching the changes in WWE will be in the coming months. Regardless, perhaps fans might just get to see a possible crossover between AEW and WWE somewhere down the line.
