Claudio Castagnoli bet on himself when he turned down a WWE deal, and now he is ROH World Champion. The former Cesaro surprised the pro wrestling world when he finally showed up on AEW television, but tonight he became the biggest name in ROH.

Castagnoli battled Jonathan Gresham for the ROH World Title at Death Before Dishonor. Cesaro won the big match to kick off the company’s big pay-per-view event.

This win was celebrated with confetti and Cesaro received a ton of praise from fans. Now we will have to see what’s next, as the Blackpool Combat Club now has a champion in their ranks.

Tony Khan made it very clear that he doesn’t want any hybrid titles. That being said, it’s hard to imagine that Claudio won’t flaunt his new title on Wednesday.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
