Tonight’s WWE SmackDown will continue the build towards SummerSlam. The huge stadium show in Nashville already has several top matches announced. One such bout will pit The Usos against The Street Profits with the Unified WWE Tag Team Championship on the line. They have been teasing the reveal of a special guest referee for the match for some time.

The Street Profits believe they are the rightful champions after getting screwed by an official at Money in the Bank. When Jimmy Uso pinned Montez Ford, Ford’s shoulder was clearly off the mat. While The Usos didn’t necessarily cheat, The Street Profits didn’t get a fair shake.

The special guest referee story has been built around that referee blunder. In a new report by Sean Ross Sapp behind Fightful’s paywall, it was revealed that early plans for tonight’s show include a reveal of just who that ref will be. It was not noted who might get the nod.

“We’ve learned Drew McIntyre, Theory, Sheamus, Xavier Woods, Street Profits, Riddle, MVP, Viking Raiders, Usos, New Day, Liv Morgan, Natalya, Madcap Moss were scheduled for Smackdown Friday. Plans also called for the special guest referee for Usos/Street Profits to be revealed.”

Fans have been waiting to hear who the referee will be for a while. If it is revealed tonight, that will be one more piece of the SummerSlam puzzle resolved. There should be plenty more set in stone for the biggest part of the Summer as we draw closer to the event.

Also planned for tonight’s SmackDown is a championship contender match between SmackDown Women’s Champion Liv Morgan and Natalya. Madcap Moss will also take on Theory in singles competition. If you can’t tune in to Fox at 8 PM, keep an eye on Ringside News for live results as they happen.
