AEW has a lot of fans in the United States who flock to their events, but there are other countries on the globe.

Canadian fans haven’t seen AEW travel to them yet. The closest the company got at this point is Detroit, but that’s still not good enough for those in the Maple Leaf country.

While speaking to The Star in Canada, Tony Khan addressed his company’s future in Canada. He sees a lot of potential in the Great White North, but they want to make sure that they pick the correct venue for their first Canadian event.

“We’re all back on the road this past year and we’ve been all over America, but I do look forward to bringing an AEW live events to Canada soon. I think we have a chance to really build a strong presence, not only what we’ve established on television with TSN, but also with live events for the fans.”

“We have a lot of great Canadian wrestlers and I’m excited about the possibility of our live events here because we’ve had great success on TV here.”

“Most important thing is quality of the arena for the fans and the wrestlers and the staff, and then followed by the size for the opportunity to create revenue.”

Only time will tell what AEW does next. Tony Khan’s company has certainly grown a lot in the last three years. The goal is certainly to expand to a global company, and despite the pandemic putting a pause on that action, it looks like this is still well within their reach.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
