Pat McAfee brings a refreshing perspective to WWE commentary. McAfee runs a very popular podcast, where he often discusses events that would be taboo on WWE television. That and his charisma and athletic ability have made McAfee a versatile performer for the company. Pat may soon be getting the call to step into the ring again.

At WrestleMania 38, Pat McAfee famously wrestled Vince McMahon. Since then, fans have been wondering when he would step into the ring again. A recent angle on SmackDown may point to that happening soon.

Pat McAfee cut a promo on Happy Corbin, which made fans laugh at him. It certainly looked like an angle was being built between Corbin and the SmackDown commentator. On the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer agreed.

“It felt watching it, I don’t know this, but it felt watching it like they’re going to do McAfee and Corbin at you know, like, maybe SummerSlam.”

WWE is hoping to draw a huge crowd to Nashville for the upcoming stadium event. They will want as many big names on the card as they can get. Pat McAfee has a mainstream audience outside of wrestling and may fit the bill.

It certainly looks like WWE wants to build towards a match between Pat McAfee and Happy Corbin. The former NFL star has shown he can hold his own in the ring. His next huge match could be coming at SummerSlam.
