Christian returned during the Royal Rumble match last year after a seven-year-long hiatus from in-ring competition. However, he wasn’t seen on WWE television after that. Ultimately, Christian chose to go to AEW as he came to be known as Christian Cage once again.
Since then, Cage became one of the mainstays of AEW and also Impact Wrestling when the two companies still worked together. Cage eventually became a mentor to the Jurassic Express on AEW television.
While speaking on the Keepin It 100 podcast, Disco Inferno criticized Christian Cage for going through the motions in his “botched” AEW run. Inferno also stated that AEW botched Cage’s run so far.
“Christian has been botched. Bro, the guy was a former world champion in multiple organizations and had way more value than they’ve given him when he came in, just on his name alone and his resume (..) He’s a good talker, and for some reason, you would never know that if this is the only thing you saw of Christian was in AEW because their backstage segments with Jungle Boy and then Luchasaurus are not entertaining every week.
I kind of put a little bit of blame on him for not owning his performance on the show. Like if he is gonna do a minute and a half backstage, I would be taking the time [say], let’s steal the show… The guy’s getting paid a lot, and he’s lost in the shuffle, doesn’t like his creative, and goes through the motions with it.”
Christian Cage turned his back on Jungle Boy on AEW Dynamite this week and officially turned heel. We will have to wait and see how AEW will be booking Cage from now on. If anything, he’s not going to be happy about this criticism from Disco Inferno.
