The last time we saw the queen Charlotte Flair was at WrestleMania Backlash when she lost her SmackDown Women’s Championship to Ronda Rousey. Since then, she has taken a bit of a break and married her fiancé, Andrade. With Andrade’s return to AEW Dynamite this week, many have speculated whether this meant Flair would also make her return to SmackDown this week. Well, that may not be the case.
According to Mike Johnson of PW Insider, Charlotte Flair is not expected to return to SmackDown this Friday night. There’s no word on when she’ll return or whether she’ll sit out Money in the Bank.
Rousey has started a championship program with her former friend, Natalya. While there is certainly no need to have the queen booked for rematch against Rousey, the news of Roman Reigns possibly not showing up at all until after Money in the Bank might make WWE reconsider putting Natalya in the title picture. SmackDown is losing quite of bit of star power without Flair or Reigns, even if they do still have Rousey to back on.
Hopefully, Flair can make her return soon as Money in the Bank is only a few short weeks away. Perhaps this is the chance for WWE to give some of their other talents on the main roster a chance, but we’ll have to wait and see.
