Raquel Rodriguez was one of the highlights of NXT television, as she eventually became the NXT Women’s Champion. After a successful run in NXT, Rodriguez was called up to Friday Night Smackdown. She also wanted to keep her last name as Gonzalez.

She was Gonzalez in NXT but was changed to Rodriguez on the main roster. Fans were definitely not happy about her name change whatsoever, as is the usual case in WWE.

While speaking on “‎Out of Character with Ryan Satin,” Raquel Rodriguez talked bout her name change on the main roster. Rodriguez wanted to keep her last name as Gonzalez but to no avail.

“I wanted to keep Gonzalez because it represented me. It represents my legacy because it’s my real last name. It’s the name that my dad used while he was wrestling throughout his entire career as well. But I wasn’t upset about it. I’m glad that they still gave me something Hispanic, Rodriguez.”

Even her finisher’s name was recently changed for being too vulgar. We’ll have to see what’s next for Raquel, as fans simply want her to succeed.
