CM Punk is injured and he will need surgery. The exact nature of his injury was not announced, but there is reason to believe that he won’t be out for long. In the meantime, AEW still needs a World Champion on television.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed AEW’s plan for their World Title. The already announced a battle royal will kick off Dynamite next week with the winner facing #1 contender Jon Moxley in the main event for a shot at Forbidden Door where they will battle for the Interim AEW World Title. That being said, they still need to figure out that other Forbidden Door spot.

“The whole thing has not been finalized — that part (Dynamite plans) as been finalized. There is more that will be finalized and it will probably be announced certainly by Wednesday and they’ll go in there with that, so that’s the situation.”
