Matt Hardy is a true veteran in the pro wrestling world, having worked in various promotions in his career. Hardy has always managed to reinvent himself and stay relevant throughout his pro wrestling career. Matt Hardy also opened up about one of his more controversial storylines in his career, featuring Jeff Hardy.

Back at the 2009 Royal Rumble, Matt Hardy betrayed his brother Jeff and cost him the World Heavyweight Championship, helping Edge win the title. Afterwards, the two were engaged in a bitter feud that lasted for the next few months.

The feud was controversial for a lot of reasons as many fans felt it went too far. While speaking on an episode of The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, Matt Hardy recalled his 2009 feud with Jeff, which he found distasteful.

“That was an event that was so tragic and so sad. Literally, his house burned down. All the old tights and all his old gear were lost in the fire,” Matt said. His dog died. It was a really traumatic event for him. Just for them to put that in our storyline was almost like it was in bad taste.

“I’ll never forget them burning a dog collar and then I held the dog collar,” he continued. “I could just feel the air coming out of the crowd. It’s not that they were mad at me because I’m playing the bad guy in the story. They were mad at me because this is in poor taste. So that’s how it felt.”

The Hardys also plan on going after the AEW World Tag Team Championships in the future. They are set to face The Young Bucks at Double Or Nothing on May 29th. We’ll have to see if The Hardys will win the match or not.
