Paul Wight used to be known as the Big Show in WWE and is considered a legend in the business. He worked in the company for more than twenty years before he decided to take his skills elsewhere. Wight eventually made his way to AEW, much to the surprise of the pro wrestling world. He also once caused a lot of damage in WWE.

Despite his successful career in WWE, Big Show was often made a joke due to Vince McMahon turning him into a heel or babyface randomly for no reason. Wight had previously made it clear he wasn’t a fan of that either.

While speaking on The Universal Wrestling Podcast, former WWE writer Matt McCarthy recalled how Big Show went against instructions by smashing a WWE television monitor backstage during a segment.

“I remember one time there was a backstage [segment]. We specifically told Big Show, ‘Don’t touch the TV monitor,’. And instead, he punched it and it smashed into a thousand pieces. I remember Teddy Long was standing next to me and he goes, ‘Oh my God! They told him not to touch the gimmick and then he punches the gimmick!’”

Paul Wight is more than happy working in AEW thanks to the creative environment provided there. Despite that, he will always be grateful for his time in WWE, even if he did not like everything about it. We’ll have to see what the future holds for Wight.
