WWE looks to be introducing a new tag team shortly. The company has filed for a trademark on a very interesting new team name. Details on who the name will be used for are unclear.

The new name is “Bloody Brutes.” The company filed to protect the trademark with the USPTO on May 12, 2022. The filing is interesting for several reasons.

The trademark application was standard for new WWE ring name. The description is the usual language about sports entertainment, professional wrestling, and online content.

“Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibitions and performances by professional wrestlers and entertainers rendered and through broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service; providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment via an online community portal; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information; fan club services, namely, organizing sporting events in the field of wrestling for wrestling fan club members; organizing social entertainment events for entertainment purposes for wrestling fan club members; providing online newsletters in the fields of sports entertainment; online journals, namely blogs, in the field of sports entertainment”

The use of the term “blood” as well as blood in general are heavily frowned upon in WWE. The company even openly criticized AEW for what they called “gory self-mutilation.” That leads one to believe that the word “bloody” could be used in the UK sense, but that is merely speculation.

New trademark filings from WWE frequently pop up before talent debuts on NXT. With today being Tuesday, we could see who the Bloody Brutes are as soon as this evening. In this case, the Bloody Brutes will be appearing on a TV near your very soon.
