Malakai Black was gone from WWE television for a very long time as creative had absolutely nothing for him. Despite making a return on Friday Night Smackdown back in May last year and starting a new feud with Big E, Black was shockingly released by WWE. Triple H had a lot of plans for NXT talent, and he also wanted Black to be a babyface in NXT.

Malakai Black had a tremendous run in NXT, where he even won the NXT Championship. Prior to his NXT debut, Black made a name for himself as Tommy End in the indies, who was a heel.

While speaking with Universal Wrestling Podcast, Malakai Black revealed that Triple H initially wanted him to be a babyface in NXT, as opposed to being a heel.

“I always considered this installment of who I am to be a mesh of the years on the independents and the years in NXT and WWE, predominantly, and kind of blend them together. That’s what Malakai basically became, and even funnier though, this was actually the character I was supposed to debut within NXT, but then Hunter [Triple H] wanted the character to be a good guy.”

Malakai Black is currently part of The House Of Black and is feuding with Death Triangle on AEW television. That stable is hit or miss depending on who you ask. We’ll have to see how their feud is booked in the coming weeks.
