Stu Grayson’s removal from the AEW roster page shocked lot of fans. Grayson has been with the company since 2019 when he joined Evil Uno to form The Dark Order. Grayson hasn’t been used on AEW television lately, leading to speculation about his status with Tony Khan’s company.

On the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed the Stu Grayson situation. It was reported that Grayson was removed from the roster page on AEW’s site because he currently doesn’t have a contract. The two sides were unable to agree on a deal to keep him with the promotion.

“The story that I’m getting is that his contract expired, which is the same as Marko Stunt, Joey Janella, and Jack Evans, whose names were removed from the roster page because their contracts expired. The only word going around was that they failed to come to terms to a new agreement. I don’t know if that means that they’re still talking or if it was one of the decisions made not to renew him.

I can see it in the sense that they have so many guys on the roster, and he’s been there for three years and there’s just so many guys. But, on the flip side, Joey Janella wanted out. Marko Stunt just kind of wasn’t used anymore and Jack Evans is good, but… The thing with Stu Grayson is, I thought in the ring, the guy’s great. It’s not like he’s a guy that people talk about, like you go, ‘Oh, he’s the best wrestler in the business,’ no one’s going to bring up his name.

He’s one of those guys, when he was put in those matches, he was great. His timing was great. His moves were great. But, he wasn’t a guy who got over great, but as a technical wrestler, I thought he was really, really good.”

The Dark Order has been a fan favorite in AEW since the brand’s inception. With a growing roster filled with established stars, some people were going to be passed by. Unfortunately, that seems to be the case for Stu Grayson. There is always a chance they reach a new deal, but for now, The Dark Order is down a member.
