Natalya Wanted To Help Xia Li Shine During Her WWE Main Roster Debut

Xia Li made headlines after being the first Chinese talent to join WWE a few years ago. Li worked in NXT where she became one of the mainstays of the women’s division. Natalya also helped Xia Li out in a huge way during her main roster debut.

Xia Li finally made her debut on a previous episode of Friday Night Smackdown last year, where she saved Naomi from Shayna Baszler and Sonya Deville. Many fans ended up loving Li’s debut as well.

However, Xia Li only made her in-ring debut back in February. She would defeat Natalya in a short match. While speaking on the podcast Wilde On, Natalya explained how she helped Xia Li shine during her WWE main roster debut.

“I know on TV I play the role of the bad guy, but I could see that Xia is brand new. She’s just learning the English language. She’s trying her hardest. She’s been training and she’s been working hard for this chance to make her debut for WWE. How can I help her to showcase herself in the best possible way in two minutes on SmackDown? I know we don’t have a lot of time, but two minutes is still two minutes. Let’s make it amazing. Let’s make sure that Xia shines, let’s make sure she stands out. Not everybody knows how to do that or wants to do that.”

Natalya made her way to NXT 2.0 this past week and attacked Cora Jade. We’ll have to see how her feud with Jade will progress in the coming weeks now.
