Buff Bagwell made a name for himself in WCW, where he found moderate success as part of the mid-card scene. He eventually made his way to WWE, where he never found much success. He also made an interesting claim recently.

WWE also has a policy of helping former talent go through rehab, should they need it. Buff Bagwell had substance abuse issues as well. In fact, Bagwell previously said that WWE rejected his request for rehab.

While speaking on Busted Open Radio, Buff Bagwell was asked about how he’s doing in his life. Bagwell said he is doing great and claimed that he is the only WWE Superstar who refused rehab.

“I couldn’t have wrote it any better. I couldn’t have asked God sitting down like knee to knee with God and say, Hey, here’s what I’m trying to do and show everybody, and we started the podcast with Rebuilding Buff. Because WWE, I’m the only wrestler in the history of time that they turned down for rehab. The only wrestler in the history, bro. Not trying to throw anyone under the bus, but several guys went several times. And I’ve never used them, asked them to do it, and they turned me down. So I said the hell with it. I’m gonna do it myself.”

According to WWE’s corporate site, the Former Talent Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Assistance Program is “potentially available to: (i) former WWE Superstars with a prior WWE booking contract; or (ii) former referees with a prior WWE referee contract.”

For the time being, Diamond Dallas Page has helped Bagwell with the rehab process. Page has helped save the lives of former WWE Superstars such as Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts, so Bagwell is in good hands.
