Cody Rhodes left AEW earlier this year and shocked fans all over the world. Speculation arose as to where he would go next, but his mind was already made up. WWE was also given huge props for Cody Rhodes’ presentation.
The American Nightmare finally made his return to WWE after 6 long years at WrestleMania 38 Night One. He faced Seth Rollins in a very competitive 20-minute match, where Rhodes won in the end.
He also had a very grand entrance at WrestleMania 38, with all the bells and whistles one would expect from someone like Cody Rhodes.
While speaking on Jim Cornette Drive’s Thru podcast, Jim Cornette talked about Cody Rhodes’ WWE return. He gave the company huge props for presenting Rhodes as a big-time star.
“It was huge. Cody Rhodes looked more like a big-time star and a major main event money ballplayer on this entrance and this match than he ever has before in his entire career. And yes, the music was part of it because everyone recognized it within a second and the people it added to their absorption of the whole thing. But again, Tony’s playing this s***t on his television show and suddenly not only does one of his EVPs leave but he can take his music with him and everything? I mean they just wiped their feet on poor old Tony’s face this week.”
The American Nightmare made it very clear that he wants to win the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship eventually. We’ll have to see how Rhodes will fare in the coming months.
