‘The American Dream’ Dusty Rhodes’ influence in the pro wrestling business cannot be understated. Towards the end of his life, he helped out WWE significantly, especially NXT. Cody & Dustin Rhodes continue to carry out the tremendous legacy that the American Dream forged for them. They are obviously more than happy to talk about their famous father as well.
During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed the fact that Tony Khan gave Cody and Dustin Rhodes the permission to appear in WWE’s Dusty Rhodes documentary. He acknowledged Tony’s gesture of allowing them despite the fact that they were associated with AEW.
It is interesting, because A&E Bio was doing the Dusty thing already and Tony Khan had given permission to Dustin and Cody to appear on the WWE documentary for their father even if they were with AEW which is interesting and I would have done the same thing. I don’t know if the situation was reversed if Vince does the same thing. Dustin is still gonna be in it, so that’s cool.
AEW and WWE are basically arch rivals in the professional wrestling scene and Meltzer said that he would’ve done the same if he were in Khan’s shoes. He however questioned if Vince would’ve done the same.
Thanks to signing with WWE once again, Cody Rhodes will also be an executive producer on that American Dream biography.
It goes without saying that Tony Khan’s promotion will greatly miss Rhodes’ presence. We’ll have to wait and watch how Cody Rhodes is booked in the coming months now that he’s returned to WWE after a six-year absence. His future in WWE has piqued the interest of fans.
