Sasha Banks is one of the top female WWE Superstars in the history of the company. Her accolades speak for themselves and she has competed in some of the best matches in the company’s history. She also once requested her release from WWE.

Sasha Banks made a name for herself in NXT during her early years in WWE. There she squared off against the likes of Bayley and had tremendous matches there as well.

While speaking with The Athletic, Sasha Banks talked about realizing she needed a break from pro wrestling when she competed at WrestleMania 35 in 2019. Banks also talked about a separated shoulder injury as well. Banks detailed her struggles with depression and explained why she requested her release from the company.

”I had a Make-A-Wish the next day and I couldn’t move, couldn’t put my clothes on, couldn’t do my hair. Bayley had to come into my room and do that. I didn’t want to tell anybody. Those titles meant so much to me.”

I felt so sad every day and I didn’t know why,” Banks said. “I had to take myself away from a situation and such a fast world where I had to stop and realize who Mercedes was and who Sasha Banks was. I had no time off. I never got to see myself, my family. I took that time to figure out what I loved besides wrestling.”

Sasha Banks and Naomi will be squaring off against Liv Morgan & Rhea Ripley, Natalya & Shayna Baszler and Zelina Vega and Carmella for their WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships in a Fatal Four-Way match at WrestleMania 38. We’ll have to see whether Sasha Banks and Naomi will become the new champions or not at the Show of Shows.
