Matt Hardy is a true veteran in the pro wrestling world, having worked in various promotions in his career. He is currently under his Big Money Matt persona in AEW and remains a highlight. It seems he believes WWE overuses DQ finishes quite often.

Many fans would agree that WWE’s product has fallen a lot when it comes to quality. The current product has a lot of flaws including 50/50 booking, feuds that don’t go anywhere, teams splitting up for no reason and storylines not making sense. The disinterest of the fans is reflected in the dwindling ratings of Monday Night RAW over the past few years.

While speaking on The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, Matt Hardy talked about WWE’s booking in general. Hardy stated that he believes the company overdoes it when it comes to disqualification finishes.

“I definitely, 100% agree that WWE overdoes DQs, without a doubt. There are times where you could either put heat on the heels and have some other heels interfere or you can have a great kickass match where the baby face valiantly overcomes the heel. And then you can have the heel always do something to get heat on him after the fact if you want to continue the story.

They’re just done a lot of times for protection, to keep people strong or to continue a story. Once again, I feel like fans are so knowledgeable about the wrestling product in 2022, they want to see a clean finish and they want to feel like they’re being rewarded for watching this angle or story, and they want to be paid a proper finish.”

WWE has been criticized for a lot of things and disqualification finishes is simply one of them. Regardless, fans wonder whether the company will improve their booking in general or not.
