Shelton Benjamin Says Shad Gaspard’s Passing Away Was Like Losing A Family Member

Shelton Benjamin is a true veteran in the world of professional wrestling, having competed inside the squared circle for two decades now. He has won multiple titles during his time in the business as well. It seems he opened up about Shad Gaspard’s passing.

Former WWE Superstar Gaspard tragically lost his life in May of 2020, when he sacrificed himself to save his son. The two were swept away by a strong rip current while in the ocean at Venice Beach, California.

Shelton Benjamin was very close to Shad Gaspard in real life. While speaking with Ryan Satin, Benjamin talked about his relationship with Shad Gaspard. Benjamin stated that Gaspard passing away was like losing a family member.

“When you get in this business, I mean it when I say it is really hard to find friends. Shad is one of the people I consider a brother from the time he got here. We became so close. I was with him when he became a dad. When he passed away, for me, it was losing a family member. Just like any other family, I look out for his family, his son, his widow.”
