Matt Hardy is a true veteran in the pro wrestling world, having worked in various promotions in his career. He is currently under his Big Money Matt persona in AEW and remains a highlight. It seems he has an interesting opinion about AEW’s current status.

Matt Hardy made his shocking debut in AEW back in March of 2020 and immediately started a feud with Chris Jericho and the Inner Circle. The feud would feature a segment where Hardy teleported to various places in the arena. Unfortunately, his Broken gimmick simply never took off in the company.

While speaking on The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, Matt Hardy was asked to compare WWE and AEW. Hardy stated that he believes AEW has a long way to go before it can catch up to WWE.

“AEW, obviously, we have a long ways to go before we catch up to the global enterprise that is WWE. There are no doubts about that, I mean, they’re huge. They just made their biggest profit ever, over one billion dollars. So I think AEW is just offering an alternative and we’re taking a different approach.

“The way we present wrestling and how it really has a diehard audience, and I think that’s something that in the big scheme of things is going to be good for WWE, Vince McMahon, and company. Because it’s going to force them to freshen up their product and do new things as well.”

Matt Hardy is certainly happy working in AEW and that is unlikely to change anytime soon. It is likely his contributions to the pro wrestling world will never be forgotten either and he will be remembered as a legend in the business.
