Jim Ross has been the voice of professional wrestling for generations of fans. Good Ole’ JR got his start in the southern territories. Ross then moved on for a long stint with WCW before jumping to the WWF at WrestleMania 9 and ultimately landing in All Elite Wrestling. Very few viewers have not witnessed a show being called by Jim Ross.

AEW has been in the news a lot lately as several wrestler contracts have expired or been renewed. Cody Rhodes opted to seek greener pastures after being unable to reach deal with Tony Khan. Chris Jericho had his two-year option exercised and will be around for a while.

In an interview with JMart and Ramon, Jim Ross recently revealed that his AEW contract also expires soon. JR says he doesn’t plan on going anywhere. Ross also acknowledged that he’s not getting any younger and the ride won’t last forever.

“[AEW is] in a really cool spot, especially a guy like me. My contract is up soon. I’m not looking to go anywhere, but nonetheless, I’m 70. I have to be realistic at some point in my crazy ass life.

I haven’t been. My late wife would say, ‘Amen to that. He’s a character.’ I’m loving what I’m doing. It’s still fun for me. As long as you keep that element in the place of work, you’re alright and doing good.”

Jim Ross knows he can’t continue to man the booth forever. He still obviously loves his job. JR is looking to stick around with AEW for as long as he can get it done.
