Big E truly had a long and difficult road to the top of WWE. After a solid run on NXT, he was called up to the main roster but was eventually lost in the shuffle. It seems a pro wrestling legend commented on Big E’s current status in WWE.

At the WWE Day 1 pay-per-view, Big E defended his WWE Championship against Kevin Owens, Seth Rollins, Bobby Lashley and Brock Lesnar. To the shock of many, Brock Lesnar pinned Big E after hitting an F5 and won the match, thereby becoming the new WWE Champion.

Many fans felt Big E’s first reign as the WWE Champion left much to be desired as fans wanted better for him. Big E even previously admitted he wasn’t happy with his WWE Championship run.

While speaking on Smack Talk, pro wrestling legend Dutch Mantell talked about Big E’s status in WWE after losing the WWE Championship. Mantell accused WWE of treating Big E as a sacrificial lamb but added that it was simply how the pro wrestling business can be.

“I really do not believe fan support could help Big E, but it might hurt the person that is complaining about it if they hear of it. See, the reason they took it away from him is because of the mix-up with Roman Reigns not making the shot, or he had COVID-19 and they turned it into a five-way and then they had to keep Brock strong so the sacrificial lamb was Big E. I do believe he understands it. He doesn’t like it. I don’t like it, but hey this is supposed to be business. I hope he looks at it that way but I’m sure his ego is hurt.”

Big E was originally supposed to be in the main event of WrestleMania 38 this year, but that is no longer the case. We will have to wait and see what will be next in store for Big E in the future as his singles career is effectively done.
