MJF has been touted as one of the defining heels of the current generation of pro wrestlers and it is not difficult to understand why. MJF became huge star in AEW in a short time and since then has consistently delivered in his feuds. It seems Tony Khan gave huge props to MJF’s most recent match as well.

The Salt of the Earth is devoted to his craft as he never breaks kayfabe, inside or outside the squared circle. For the past few months, MJF had been feuding with CM Punk.

As seen on last week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, MJF squared off against CM Punk in what was certainly a very highly anticipated match. MJF ultimately won the match after some assistance from Wardlow.

The match received universal praise from fans and critics alike as the two put on an absolute clinic that featured masterful storytelling throughout. While speaking with Busted Open Radio, AEW President Tony Khan stated that MJF had his best match so far in AEW against CM Punk last week.

“It was an amazing match, it was an incredible match. You can’t say enough about what those two men did for AEW and for our fans. All the great people in Chicago who came through a snowstorm to get to the show, they saw an awesome, awesome main event.

I don’t think it was the result anybody in Chicago wanted to see, or probably anybody wanted to see. I have to say, outside of Long Island I don’t know if there’s that many MJF fans. But if you’re an MJF fan, this was your biggest night, because that was his biggest win, and his best match. I thought it was an awesome main event.”

We will have to wait and see what is next in store for MJF now that he has defeated CM Punk. Odds are, CM Punk isn’t done with The Salt Of The Earth just yet.
