Rick Steiner’s son Bron Breakker has been on a roll since debuting in NXT 2.0 back in September last year. His popularity soared every passing week and it is unlikely to stop anytime soon. It seems WWE nixed a huge angle with him.

As seen on the NXT New Year’s Evil event, Bron Breakker challenged Tommaso Ciampa for the NXT Championship in the main event of the show. In a true passing of the torch moment, Bron Breakker defeated Tommaso Ciampa for the title.

According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE considered having Bron Breakker considered doing a spot with Dolph Ziggler and Bron Breakker in the Rumble match, in order to develop their feud. However, it was ultimately nixed.

There was some talk of doing a Bron Breakker spot with Dolph Ziggler to build NXT, but the decision was made not to have anyone from NXT in the Rumble.

Dolph Ziggler already hinted at going after Bron Breakker for the NXT Championship. We will have to wait and see if the Showoff will make his way to NXT 2.0 and challenge Bron Breakker for the NXT Championship as it would certainly make for a great match.
