Jim Ross has been the voice of wrestling for multiple generations of fans. From his beginnings in the southern territories to the NWA and WCW in the ’80s and ’90s, JR is one of the true legends of the sport. A recent health scare took Jim out of action for a while, but you can’t keep a good man down.

Ross had been in an ongoing battle with skin cancer. The voice of AEW has undergone months of treatment. Good Ole JR recently announced that he was cancer-free. The WWE Hall of Famer returned to the commentary desk at Dynamite in late December. There was still a long road to healing ahead at that time.

Jim recently revealed that he’s down to just one doctor visit a month. On the latest episode of Grilling JR, Ross noted that was quite an improvement from the nearly-daily visits of the past. The doctor noted that JR may have returned to work a little too soon.

“I had a doctor’s appointment today. I’m going back in 30 days which is good because at one point in time, I was seeing the doctor daily. Then when I got my treatments all done, I started every other week and so today, we scheduled it in a month.

So the doctor is pleased with my healing. My leg has not healed yet. I came back to work about 30 days too early according to the doctor. It wasn’t too early for me. I was ready to go, but yeah, he’s pleased with my progress. He said you can’t let yourself be tricked into thinking that you’re healed. You’re not.”

JR noted that he was still experiencing some tenderness. The pain is improving and his radiation wounds are healing. Jim Ross is focused on getting better with each passing day.
